Exhilarating Events of the 14th Annual Athletic Meet 2017-18

The eventful athletic meet was spread across 4^th to 6^th January 2018 and the spirit of “We are One” resonated in the entire premises of the event, with equal involvement of the students and teachers.

Day-1

The students were bubbling with enthusiasm and excitement for the first session of the grand carnival. Every athlete was anticipating a great day ahead. The day started off with the 800m event and as the day passed on, we went through many qualifiers and semi-finals. As the evening approached, we were on the verge of completion of our session-2 of day-1 with the 200m semi-finals of under-17 group. As the athletes pushed against the starting blocks, the entire audience jumped in joy to witness a thrilling race. Although a day full of enthusiasm ended, it gave plenty of indication of many more nail-biting events that we would witness in the next two days.

Day-2

The morning session of Day-2 began with the sound of a clapper signalling the beginning of the long but worth watching 1500m finals of under-15 group. A similar race of the under-17 group followed next. By noontime, the sun was overhead, shining bright and hot, but even the sun’s energy could not overpower the students’ ever increasing enthusiasm. As the day came to an end, all witnessed one of the few thrilling and events of the carnival, i.e. 4x200m Relay finals of under-17 group. The shouts of “WE ARE ONE” echoed in the air as the students attended the first prize distribution ceremony of the 14^th Annual Athletic Meet.

Day-3

The ultimate day brought with it plentiful thunderous finals ranging from the novelty race finals of under-8 group to 100m finals of under-17 group. The morning session started with 800m finals of under-17 group and ended with 200m finals of under-17 group.

The two days of extreme hard work and the preceding practice sessions would have drained the energy out of a commoner, but on the contrary, despite the relentless efforts put in by the students, the last session did not end in exhaustion and tiredness. Instead, it was hard to control the unparalleled gusto of the students throughout the session.

The students had looked forward to a great and a grand 14^th Annual Athletic Meet and surely the teachers and the mentors did not let them down.
