Teachers… The best compass any traveller of life can possibly have guiding us from chaos to clarity, towards pleasing our parents, inculcating good values and much much more.

5th September… A day to thank these extraordinary people for their selfless endeavours.

His Divine Holiness Hariprasad Swamiji, the visionary creator of Atmiya Vidya Mandir, blessed the school with an extraordinary staff who, apart from providing us – students, with quality education, are willing to sacrifice their comforts just to help the students to the best of their abilities.

The Teachers’ Day ceremony, titled ‘Samarpan’, was celebrated on 5th September in the school’s prarthana hall, hosted and planned by the 11th graders with the guidance of teachers. It started, with the grand welcome of the teachers as they walked on the decorative path set up for them. This was followed by the poojan of Shree Thakorji by the Principal and respected guests. After a humour-filled, introduction to the theme – Teachers: Our best compass – a short but terrific glimpses video was played. Next in the queue was a heartfelt drama by 11th grade students based on a real incident in which Sandip Sir had selflessly guided students for their 12th boards despite his severe back pain – a sacrifice which brought him to the point of surgery.

This was followed up by a lively song performance by the students of grades 2nd, 9th and 11th. The song “Teacher Ko Pyar” filled the hall with a sense of immense gratitude. Thereafter, an eye-appealing masterpiece of a video tribute was shown. The video demonstrated the numerous ways our teachers help us and gave reason to our gratitude, revising the essence of why Teachers’ Day is celebrated.

To everyone’s delight and joy, we had video darshan of GuruHari Prabodhswamiji, our Spiritual Master, who in His blessings explained how teachers were as important as our parents and why they should be respected. He also enlisted the benefits of having an open-hearted friendship with our ‘Divine Mother’ Pujya Suhradswamiji.

Proceeding on with the event, a specially made card for our humble and honourable Principal, Vijay Sir was presented by two students from Team Samarpan. Next, a video showcasing the students’ love-filled efforts behind making ‘Thank You’ cards for their teachers and mentors was projected.

Yet another crowning moment of the event was the inspiring speech delivered by the leader of the creators of leaders – Vijay Sir. He revealed to all that when Swamishree envisioned Atmiya Vidya Mandir, He emphasized that the base of the school was faith in God and values. Sir further explained that human beings have infinite capacity, but in order to harness that capacity, one needs vivek. So, in order to help children make the most of the opportunity of having a human birth, Swamishree conceived of the essential need of faith and vivek being taught to children from an early age. Sir highlighted the unique expectations that Swamishree had from AVM teachers and the immense advantage that we all have due to having access to the lives of Swamishree and GuruHari. Delving into their lives and paravani has the power of simplifying any complex spiritual for all of us. Finally, he highlighted how GuruHari’s blessings and inspiration allowed the Team Samarpan students to deliver such a wonderful, heartfelt event.

This brought the event to a grand finale. The custom-made Teachers’ Day cards were then lovingly presented to the teachers and mentors by bhoolku students at the specially created panels and backgrounds in the hall.

Although the event Samarpan has come to an end, its message will continue to resonate. Gratitude towards teachers should not be limited to a single day, as their impact on our lives is immeasurable. Our efforts will never equal theirs, and we must remember that the teachers do it not for themselves, but for us. And therefore, Samarpan has been rightfully labelled – “A tribute to all those who light the way for others”.
